Programs

Practical support for elders, caregivers, volunteers, and families.

Our programs are designed around real needs: time, companionship, dignity, relief, faith when requested, community service, and careful coordination so support reaches the people it is meant to help.

Programs should look like real life: visits, calls, food, stories, service, relief, and follow-through.

How support works

From community support to documented help.

Legacy raises funds for practical elder-support work, then connects those funds to approved needs instead of leaving donors guessing. The work can begin with a family request, a church referral, a volunteer connection, or an outreach conversation in the community.

We may use internal tools to register families, volunteers, referrals, and support actions, but the nonprofit keeps the mission decision and records: who needed help, what support was approved, what navigation or referral happened, and what follow-up is needed. When paid in-home care is needed, families should use IHSS, registered caregivers, licensed providers, or approved community partners. Reasonable administration is part of the program when it helps Legacy coordinate, document, and report the work.

  1. Families, elders, volunteers, churches, or community partners tell Legacy about an elder-support need.
  2. Legacy reviews the request, confirms it fits our charitable purpose, and records the basic facts before funds are used.
  3. Donations may support approved non-medical companionship, volunteer help, resource navigation, supplies, transportation coordination, or care-access planning.
  4. When paid in-home help is needed, Legacy helps families understand and connect with appropriate IHSS providers, registered caregivers, licensed providers, or community partners instead of acting as an unlicensed home-care agency.
  5. Requests, referrals, support actions, program expenses, and follow-up notes are documented so donors and the board can see how support became real help.

What we do not claim

Non-medical support, clearly stated.

Legacy does not provide emergency response, medical diagnosis, nursing services, medication management, or clinical care. When a family needs those services, we encourage them to contact the right licensed provider or emergency service. Legacy also does not present itself as an unlicensed home-care agency; when paid in-home support is needed, we help families navigate appropriate provider paths.

Care can be practical and still feel deeply human.
